To make a podcast video from a script, you write the conversation, turn it into a video with one or two hosts on camera, and upload each episode as a video. On YouTube, the podcast itself is a playlist of those episodes, and a generated host who looks real has to be labelled when you upload.
A playlist. YouTube's help page Create a podcast in YouTube Studio puts it plainly: "On YouTube, a podcast show is a playlist, and podcast episodes are videos in that playlist."
That matters for a scripted show. Each script becomes one video, and the show is the list you put them in. The same page says MP3 files can't be turned into podcasts on YouTube, so an audio file on its own is not enough; you need a video for every episode.
No. YouTube's own rules don't ask you to label a script you wrote with help. Its disclosure page lists help with an outline or a script as production assistance, one of the things creators don't need to disclose.
You create the podcast once, then add each episode to it. Following YouTube's steps:
YouTube lists features that eligible podcasts may get, including "Inclusion in YouTube Music", "Podcast badges on Watch and Playlist pages" and "A spotlight on youtube.com/podcasts to attract new listeners". Not every playlist set as a podcast is eligible for them.
Clips don't belong in the podcast playlist either. If you keep extra playlists for seasons or clips, the same page asks you not to add podcast features to them.
One limit to know: "Ineligible content includes, but isn’t limited to, content that isn’t owned by the creator." Make the episodes yourself, from your own scripts.
YouTube's Podcast discovery tips page is short and specific:
## Can you turn a podcast episode into Shorts?
Yes, inside YouTube Studio. The help page Video Clips & Shorts in YouTube Studio says you can "use the video clips and Shorts tool to easily cut out engaging segments from your long-form videos".
The path: Content, Videos, open the episode, select Clips and Shorts, then Create clip or Short and choose Short. You pick the part you want by selecting text in the transcript or by setting times on the timeline, then Preview Short and Create Draft. ## Do you have to label a generated podcast host?
If the host looks or sounds real, yes. YouTube's disclosure help page says: "We require creators to disclose AI-generated or altered content that seems realistic."
When you upload, you answer Yes to the disclosure question in the Attributes section of YouTube Studio.
Labelling does not cost you reach. YouTube says the label alone won't limit a video's audience or its eligibility to earn money. Not labelling is the risk: "Creators who consistently choose not to disclose this information may be subject to manual application of a label", or penalties from YouTube, including removal of the content or suspension from the YouTube Partner Program.
Some things need no label at all. YouTube's list includes making captions and cloning your own voice for voice-overs or dubs.
Klovera has a Podcast format: one or two hosts at the mics, with big captions. You can start from a product link, an idea or your own script, and Klovera casts the hosts and makes the video, in any of nine camera Looks. It's one of eight formats, alongside talking head, day in the life and explainer. See the formats on the Klovera home page.
When you post the episode on YouTube, you still answer Yes to YouTube's disclosure question if your hosts are generated and look real, the same as for any generated video.
Not as an MP3. YouTube says MP3s can't be turned into podcasts, so each episode needs to be a video. A podcast video with hosts on camera gives you that, and clips for Shorts as well.
YouTube recommends 1280x1280 pixels for the square podcast thumbnail. You add it when you create the podcast in YouTube Studio, together with the title, description and visibility.
YouTube says no. Its page states that disclosing alone won't limit a video's audience or its eligibility to earn money. Creators who keep failing to disclose may have a label added for them and face penalties.
No. YouTube asks for full-length episodes only in the podcast, in the order they should be watched. Keep clips and Shorts in separate playlists without podcast features.
