Etsy listing video length: how long, how big and what to show

Adam Ginsberg, Founder and CEO of Klovera.ai, Super Intelligence Software for Everyone.

An Etsy listing video can be 3 to 15 seconds long, up to 100 MB, and it plays without sound: Etsy removes the audio when you upload it. You can add up to two videos per listing, at a resolution of at least 500px (1080px or more is ideal), in a 2:1 or 1:2 shape. The rest is below, from Etsy's own help pages, read on 25 October 2026.

How long can an Etsy listing video be?

Between 3 and 15 seconds. Etsy's help page How to Add Listing Videos puts it in one line: "Your video may be 3-15 seconds long and will not contain any audio once uploaded to your listing."

Fifteen seconds is short. That is room for one clear idea about the item, not a full tour of your shop. Plan the video around the one thing a buyer can't get from your photos.

The file requirements

From the same Etsy page:

Etsy's page doesn't give a frame rate or a bitrate, so we won't invent one. If a file is refused, check it against every line of the list above.

Does an Etsy listing video have sound?

No. Etsy's help page says the video "will not contain any audio once uploaded to your listing." Whatever you say out loud in the video, the buyer on Etsy won't hear it.

That changes how you plan it. Anything that matters has to be on screen: the product itself, and words as on-screen text or captions. On Etsy, the picture and the text do all the work.

Why add a video at all?

Etsy gives its reasons on two pages. The listing video page says "Listing videos give shoppers a better idea of your products" and adds that they can also help improve how your listings appear in Etsy search. Its page about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for Shop and Listing Pages names videos as one of four important SEO elements for a listing page, next to the item title, the description and the images.

The same SEO page says videos could increase your visibility in Google, and that they may also appear in Google's video search tab. Its advice is plain: add up to two videos to each listing if you can.

Note Etsy's wording: "could" and "may". It does not promise more views or sales, and neither do we.

What should an Etsy listing video show?

Etsy's SEO page advises adding several product images that show the different variations of an item, or the ways to use it. The same thinking works for a 15-second clip without sound.

Our own reading, not Etsy's rule, of what fits in 3 to 15 silent seconds:

Pick one per video. With two videos allowed per listing, you can show two different things, for example one for scale and one in use.

How do you add a video to an Etsy listing?

Etsy's help page gives these steps.

On Etsy.com:

  1. Open Shop Manager, then Listings.
  2. Choose the listing.
  3. Go to Photo and video.
  4. Drag and drop your file, or select Upload.

In the Etsy Seller app:

  1. Go to Listings and choose the listing.
  2. Select Listing.
  3. Tap the plus sign under Photo and video, or choose View all and then Add a video.

To remove a video, select it and then the trash can icon.

A note on your own photos

Etsy's page What Can I Sell on Etsy? says that items made by you, the seller, must use your own photographs in your listings. The same page also has its own section on generated content; read it before you list, because its rules are about the item itself.

The help pages we read today don't set a separate rule for generated listing videos. Our advice: keep the video honest. Show the item exactly as the buyer will receive it, in its real size, colours and finish.

Where Klovera fits

If you'd rather not film, Klovera can make a product video from a link. You paste the product page's link, from any online store, and the Agent reads the page and writes the script with you; then you pick an angle and who presents it, and it builds the video with captions. You can post it to your store, Reels or TikTok. More on our page for sellers.

One honest note for Etsy: Klovera makes 9:16 reels of up to 90 seconds, and Etsy's listing video rules are 3 to 15 seconds in a 2:1 or 1:2 shape. A Klovera reel won't fit an Etsy listing as it is; you would need to cut it to 15 seconds or less and reframe it to 1:2 before you upload.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum length for an Etsy listing video?

Three seconds. Etsy's help page says your video may be 3 to 15 seconds long. Anything longer than 15 seconds won't fit the listing video rules.

How many videos can I add to one Etsy listing?

Two. Etsy's help page says "You can add up to 2 videos per listing," and its SEO page suggests adding both if you can.

Why is there no sound on my Etsy listing video?

Etsy removes it. The help page says listing videos will not contain any audio once uploaded, so put the important points on screen as text or captions.

What size file can I upload to Etsy?

Up to 100 MB. Etsy accepts MP4, MOV, FLV, AAC, AVI, 3GP and MPEG files, with a minimum resolution of 500px and at least 1080px as the ideal.
