eBay lets you add one video to a listing for free, as an MP4 or MOV file of up to 150 MB, ideally one minute or less. It shows in the listing's photo gallery after eBay reviews it, usually within 48 hours. Here is the rest, in eBay's own words, checked on 4 October 2026.
Every point comes from eBay's help page, Adding a video to your listing, and its seller guide of the same name on eBay's export site. Neither page shows a date, so treat the read date as part of the answer.
An MP4 or MOV file, no bigger than 150 MB. In eBay's words: "The maximum supported video size is 150 MB". You can upload at up to 1080p, and eBay plays it back at 240p, 360p, 480p or 720p.
So there is no reason to fight with a huge file. A short, well-lit clip exported at 1080p will sit well under the limit, and buyers will see it at up to 720p anyway.
One minute or less. eBay's help page says: "Ideally, videos should be one minute or less and need to comply with the same listing policies as any other content in listings."
Note the word "ideally". This is eBay's guide, not a hard cut-off on that page. It is still the right target: the buyer is deciding about one item, and a short clip that shows it clearly does more than a long one they skip through.
In the photo gallery. eBay's help page says the video shows in the listing's image gallery in the eBay app and on the mobile browser. Its seller guide adds that videos "take the second position in the gallery" by default and can't be moved.
That second spot matters. Your main photo still does the work in search results, and the video is what a buyer sees as soon as they swipe once. Make the first seconds of the video show the item clearly, because that is the moment they are looking.
Two cases, both stated plainly on eBay's page:
There is a language rule too: "Videos also must be in the language corresponding to the site of the listing." So a listing on an English-language eBay site needs a video in English.
eBay's help page gives the steps for a web browser:
In the eBay app, tap the + symbol in the Photos and video section. Sellers who list in bulk can also add videos through eBay's Media API or a listing provider that supports it, according to the same page.
Usually two days. eBay says: "Once your video is uploaded, it will be reviewed and posted to your listing within 48 hours." It adds: "However, it can take up to seven business days to review and post a product video during occasional peak periods."
If you are listing for a busy season, upload the video a week ahead so it is live when buyers arrive.
eBay's seller guide lists the kinds of video that help buyers: product instructions and how-to videos, installation guides (it gives parts and accessories as the example), unboxing videos, and "Videos that clarify the item condition (for example, showing any scuffs, nicks, or tears)".
That last one is worth a moment for anyone selling used or refurbished items. A slow, honest look at the wear on an item answers the question a buyer would otherwise message you about.
eBay also reminds sellers that a video doesn't replace the basics: "be sure to still include a detailed item description and accurate photos in your listings."
If you have the item but not the time to film it, Klovera can make the video from your listing. You paste your eBay listing link, Klovera's Super Intelligence writes the script, casts the presenter and makes a product video, with captions added and no filming. You can change any line before it renders. Download it, check it against eBay's rules above, and upload it to the listing. More on our page for eBay and Amazon sellers.
Whatever you use, the video has to show the item as it really is, in its real condition.
No. eBay allows one video per listing. You can reuse the same video on other listings, so one clip can cover several identical items.
No. eBay's help page says videos can be added to listings free of charge. eBay doesn't list any extra step to pay for, so the upload is all there is.
The most common reason is that the listing has variations, which eBay says do not support videos. Also check that the file is an MP4 or MOV under 150 MB, and that you are uploading the file rather than pasting a link.
No. eBay says links to YouTube or other video platforms are not supported. Download your video and upload the file in the Photos & Video section.
