Most advice about Amazon product videos is a copy of a copy. This is what Amazon's own seller page says, checked on 4 October 2026, with the source linked at the bottom. Amazon changes its rules, so treat the date as part of the answer.
Amazon calls these shoppable videos. You need three things, in Amazon's words: "a Professional selling account, at least three months of selling history, and live product listings."
You do not need Brand Registry. Amazon says so directly: "You don't need to have a selling account associated with a brand enrolled in Brand Registry in order to add shoppable videos to Amazon product detail pages."
The Professional plan is $39.99 a month plus selling fees, according to the same page.
Amazon's page does not set an aspect ratio, so we won't invent one.
Here Amazon's page says two things. Its specification table lists length as "Between 1 and 12 minutes". The same page then says: "Most successful videos are just 30 to 90 seconds long and highlight the most important feature in the first 5 to 10 seconds," and every example video it shows runs between 26 and 32 seconds.
Our reading: aim for 30 to 90 seconds, put the main benefit in the first five seconds, and check the upload screen in Seller Central if a short video is refused.
Amazon lists three places:
One catch that trips people up: "For shoppable videos to appear in the main media block of product detail pages, the product must have fewer than six images." If your listing has six or more images, the video won't show at the top. And when there are several videos, the most recently uploaded one comes first.
Amazon reviews every video against its community guidelines. Once approved, videos "typically appear on product detail pages within three days". In holiday seasons, "review times may reach seven business days", so upload holiday videos early.
If a video doesn't appear, Amazon's own checklist is: go to Catalog → Upload and Manage Videos, find the video, and check its status. "Published" but invisible usually means six or more images. "Rejected" has a Manage link that shows the reason.
You can also add videos from Catalog → Upload images, on the Videos tab.
Amazon's advice is short, and it's good:
The formats Amazon suggests are a product overview, a how-to, a quick unboxing and basic setup.
If you don't have the time or the camera for it, you can make the video from the listing itself. In Klovera you paste your Amazon link, it writes three angles from the listing, you pick one and a presenter, and it makes the video with your real product photo, label and colours kept as they are, captions included. More on that, and on the five videos worth making for a listing, on our page for Amazon sellers.
Whatever you use, the rule that matters is Amazon's: the video has to show the product as it really is.
